2016 Kids Cooking Classes

Verrill Farm offers kids cooking & baking classes for Grades 1 - 6 during school vacations.

Instruction, participation and menus are geared for specific grades to make each class suitable & fun for the chefs-in-training! Kids leave classes with cooking confidence and the food they have prepared.
  • Classes take place in the farm stand kitchen from 3 - 4:30 pm
  • Registration & prepayment are required

School Vacation Cooking Classes

Tuesday, February 16: Baking with the farm stand pros for Grades 4 - 6
A Cookie Carnival!

Create made-from-scratch cookies with the farm stand bakers! Includes shortbread cookies different ways; customizing cookies with fun mix-ins; and sugar cookies in a jar - assemble and bake at home or give as a gift!
$25 per student

Thursday, February 18: Cooking with Kevin for Grades 1 - 3
A Breakfast Bonanza!

Chef Kevin Carey dons his teacher's toque for this class which includes demonstration and participation and the young chefs leave with skills and tips for preparing meals at home.

The February menu features yogurt parfaits, an individual frittata, individual sausage strada and blueberry muffins.

$25 per student

NEW – Cooking Class for Grades 6 - 8!
This year we are adding a new class for kids in grades 6 - 8 whose skills & interests go beyond the vacation classes. Parents & kids have asked & we think this class will satisfy your appetite!

Older kids get-together & prepare a full dinner with the farm stand chefs & bakers.

2016 Adult Cooking Classes

Verrill Farm offers adult cooking and baking classes throughout the year. Taught by our kitchen stand chefs & bakers, some classes are demonstration style with tastings of what is being prepared, some are hands-on with participants taking home what they have made.

Come with a friend or make a friend - the classes are convivial, informative and fun!

Wednesday, February 3 · Valentine's Gifts & Goodies Workshop CANCELLED
Create cookies, tarts, truffles and more at this Valentine's workshop - perfect for gifts or Valentine's Day dessert. Verrill Farm bakers will demonstrate and participants will make and take home caramel and fudge sauce, shortbread cookies, a passion fruit tart, raspberry fool, and truffles!

Special guest & home cook extraordinaire, Joan Verrill, will make her classic turkey stuffing!
Chef Kevin Carey will prepare popular sides from the Verrill Farm Thanksgiving menu.

Wednesday, December 7 · Holiday Workshop
Join the Verrill Farm bakers for this hands-on class! The stand kitchen will be set up with stations where participants will watch demos & then create their own holiday gifts. Festive packaging materials will be provided so participants will leave with gifts wrapped and ready to give!
$40 per person
